Elementary Ballin'

The time had finally come. It was my fifth grade year. The wait for organized basketball was finally over. To me, there was only one reason for school. And this was to play sports. I had been waiting and waiting to finally play my game in front of screaming fans and to see my dad's face light up when I would sink a three pointer. I was so excited for the first day of practice that i didn't even sleep that night. after the first week of practicing for the Long Lake Panthers, a new excitement had arose in my heart. What number jersey would I get? To me, the jersey number was very important and it meant more than just a number. It would represent who i was. The next day i was thrown the jersey number 52. I responded to it in disappointment as I was looking for the number four. Of course in elementary school they give you the bigger numbers for the bigger kids. And i knew I was a big kid. After a couple of hard thinking nights, I had finally decided to wear number 52 with pride. I would make this number a number to be reckoned with. After the quick decision with this, i would have a successful season and it would be exactly as i dreamed it would be. Basketball was my life. In the sixth grade, same emotions flowed. i was ready. i got the same number and everything and of course i loved it. We never won a whole championship, but I was satisfied with trying the very best that i could do. I then was on to the next mission. Junior High Basketball. I knew it would be tough, but i would train. Anxiety was flowing through my body as the sixth grade season came to an end. Junior High basketball...... Here I Come!

  1. Elementary Ballin? Seriously I like what I read, and you know what you love. It is just like me with football. You will find a way to move on to the next level of ball, that is if you want to. Just have to keep it in your heart, and go for the gold. Good job!!!!

  2. Getting a certain special number means a lot to me also. Throughout my years of playing soccer I would always make sure that I had the number 10. When I joined Norhtstar someone on the team already had the number 10 so I had to change my number to 24. At first I didn't like it but then I grew to love it and would always make sure that 24 was my number after that.
